Alex Bratby
Assistant Head, Teaching and Learning
Alex joined Hanford Prep in 2017 as SENCO. She had previously served in the Royal Navy and taught in a wide range of settings from first school to Further Education. Her aim is simple: to ensure every pupil experiences an education that brings out their confidence, curiosity and potential.
Varied Role Experience
Alex graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in English and Education before entering the Royal Navy where she served as one of the first female officers at sea.
Alex believes children learn best when lessons are engaging, inclusive and carefully tailored to individual need and is committed to ensuring our pupils learn in a happy and stimulating environment. She is highly experienced in supporting pupils with dyslexia and maths learning difficulties and teaches both KS3 maths and Learning Support.
She is accompanied by her dogs, Diggory and Dora, who add a touch of warmth and humour to the classroom.
