Sara Northey
Assistant Head, Curriculum and Planning
Sara has worked at Hanford since January 2015. She teaches History, and Religious Studies. She is passionate about teaching girls to think critically, to contribute to society and to advocate for themselves.
Varied Role Experience
Responsible for ensuring Hanford's curriculum is ambitious, inspiring and fit for purpose in the 21st Century, she has oversight of timetabling and the girls' transition to senior schools, including scholarships.
Sara graduated from Durham with a BA in History, has an MSc from LSE and a PGCE from the Institute of Education. She previously taught History at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire and Bullers Wood School in London, where she was Deputy-Director of Sixth Form. Prior to teaching she worked in policy and campaigns for a national charity.
Sara loves taking the girls on trips to Parliament, to Model United Nations competitions and nurturing their journalism in the weekly Hanford Headlines editorial meetings
