Formed in July 2024 through the merger of two long-established charitable trusts, Sherborne Schools Group brings together a family of exceptional schools united by a single, purposeful vision.

Sherborne Schools Group (SSG) is a leading charitable educational organisation based in the historic town of Sherborne, Dorset.

Our roots run deep. Sherborne Boys was founded in 1550, Sherborne Girls in 1899, and Sherborne Prep in 1858 - giving Sherborne one of the longest and richest educational histories in the country. All three schools have been woven into the fabric of this small Dorset town for generations.

Today, SSG brings together a group of exceptional schools united by a shared philosophy: that education is about the whole person, and that the right environment at every stage of a child's development makes all the difference.

One unified Sherborne

From September 2026, Sherborne Prep, Sherborne Boys and Sherborne Girls come together under a single, Sherborne brand, offering a clear and distinctive all-through pathway from age 3 to 18 .

This is a carefully considered step, not a departure from tradition, but its continuation. It brings coherence to what has always been true: that these three schools share a common purpose, a common town, and a common conviction about what great education looks like.

The result is something you will not find anywhere else in the UK: a seamless educational journey from age 3 to 18, combining the proven strengths of single-sex teaching with the richness of co-educational experience - at precisely the moments each serves pupils best.
